“Trusting God in Times of Uncertainty”

Life has a way of placing us in seasons where the future feels uncertain and hope seems distant. I’ve walked through valleys where answers were scarce and clarity felt beyond reach. Yet, in those moments, I’ve come to realize that God’s provision is not just about material needs; it’s about His presence, His peace, and His perfect timing.

One of the most challenging seasons in my life was when I faced a significant career transition. The road ahead was unclear, and I wrestled with doubt and fear. Imagine being 8 months pregnant and discovering that you were about to be laid off. It’s a daunting feeling which happened to be my reality. Despite my attempts to map out my future, I somehow couldn’t see it. We can plan for tomorrow based on our current circumstances, but as for me, planning a future just was hard to do. I just knew my tomorrow entailed me having a baby. That’s it. It was in that space of uncertainty that I learned to surrender, not out of defeat, but out of trust. Ask yourself, what do you do when the answer is not all that clear? Is your response to panic or is it seeking “Him”?

During that season, Matthew 6:33 became my anchor: “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” I realized that my calling wasn’t to control every outcome, but to seek God’s will and trust His provision. As I placed my focus on Him, He faithfully guided me step by step, providing opportunities I couldn’t have orchestrated on my own. By doing this, navigating unemployment and motherhood was also a time where my family and I did not lack anything.

Looking back, I see how God’s provision came in unexpected ways; through supportive friends, timely encouragement, and even closed doors that redirected me toward His better plan. His provision wasn’t always immediate, but it was always perfect.

Trusting God in uncertainty isn’t about passively waiting; it’s about actively believing that He is who He says He is; a loving Father who provides for His children. In the seasons where I felt most unsure, God proved Himself faithful. His provision has never been absent; it’s been constant, even when I couldn’t see it.

Today, I walk forward with confidence, not because the path is clear now, but because I trust the One who guides me through it.

So… in your time of uncertainty, transition or whatever the situation may be, always remember

1. Surround Yourself With Faith-Filled Voices

When your faith is shaky, borrow someone else’s for a while. Listen to sermons, talk to that wise friend, play worship music louder than your anxiety. Community and faith-filled input will realign your perspective.

2. Accept That Trust Doesn’t Always Feel Like Peace.

Sometimes trust feels like saying “yes” with trembling hands. That’s okay. Faith isn’t the absence of fear; it’s moving forward in obedience despite the fear. God honors even the smallest steps of faith.

3. Pray Honestly

How do you really feel in this season? God doesn’t need a polished speech. He wants your real voice. Cry.  Vent. Ask questions. Prayer isn’t a performance; it’s a relationship. Talk to Him like you trust that He’s listening… because He is.

4. Remember What He’s Already Done

If God got you through that last impossible situation (you know which one), He’s not about to ghost you now. Keep a journal or list of answered prayers and past victories. Your memory is one of your best weapons when doubt creeps in.

Finally….Laugh. It’s a rough time but that doesn’t mean you cannot be happy. Even in times of uncertainty, it is possible to still find joy in the small things.
